Just Like Home

When I was a young boy, I threatened to run away one too many times. Mom shocked me when she suddenly and unexpectedly said goodbye and helped me to pack my things. She told me that she would miss me, but that she wanted me to be happy. I sat with my Winnie-The-Pooh teddy bear on the hillside overlooking our home for half the day. It seemed like it was a part of me to want to be with her-and to want to be with her forever. Susan was my Girlfriend at the time. As much as anyone can be a Girlfriend at eleven years old. She had always been there. She lived on my street and we knew each other since kindergarten. I just sort of took her for granted.
